Sarah Kirkconnell has put out some great books for those that cook on the trail, but I am on the fence about the cozy - one can just wrap the Glad bag in a jacket right? well if you are doing pasta... doesn't work well. So tonight I am sitting around looking at that big spool of Reflectix that weighs nothing. Well most of it is cutting larger than a glad bag. So I eyeball hit the cuts and added a half inch at the bottom on one side to let the bag stand. As I am taping I took a small thin strip of duct tape and made sure the bag wont stick to the taped edges. thats 8" x 8"
Came in at 1.5 ounces. Could be lighter - but everything was double taped on the edges.
Grabbed some big Rigatoni 4 oz dropped it in the bag 2 cups boiling water and 20 minutes on the timer... stil wrapped it in the fleese jacket... now I am thinking I dont have to.
Came out very hot and a tad chewy so add 5-8 more minutes, but it works... poured off the excess water and added a dash of salt.

Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!
