Are you hiking the whole BMT?
yup. it'll be a little different as theres a new reroute that bypasses the slickrock creek crossing, and the yellow creek ridge trail should be easier to navigate than before it was cleared last year.. i was thinking of doing the bmt/at loop and take the at back to springer, but i figure the at is gonna be packed down south end of april. i may turn around and yo-yo the bmt or just follow it south for a while. i only plan on being out for a month, at least thats what i told the boss, but im an impulsive opportunist, so we;ll see. id like to make sure i stay upright for at least the bmt, what happens after will depend on how i feel .i may hike north on the at for a while maybe to erwin.
i havent a clueits all good -

im not planning any zeros, but then again, im 58 yrs old, and you never know.
id love to stay at tapoco lodge, but its only a day from fontana, and i need to resupply before the smokies, and i'll need 5-6 days food from fontana to davenport gap, as i dont want to stop in cherokee again. i may just stay the night anywayits all good -

How difficult is it to get into Bryson City from the tunnel to resupply? I've never been past Fontana.Lost in the right direction. -

im really looking forward to this hike.its such a beautiful trail that i can take my time with.my only agenda is maybe meeting up with lone wolf at whigg meadow. i still havent completely figured out resupply, but those things tend to take care of themselves. i need to do one drop to reliance fly and tackle, the rest i should be able to wing it.biggest problem is fuel. im starting with one large and one small can, probably need one more before the smokies.
hey lone wolf!
oh hes out hiking. was up at springer yesterday.its all good -
Won't one can of fuel get you from Whigg meadow to Fontana?Lost in the right direction.

No kidding. It looks beautiful! The more I learn about the BMT, the more I want to do the whole thing! Alas, those 45 more days of school trump that. For now.www.appalachiantrailclarity.com - Life on the A.T.

if you havent already done so, learn how to use map and compass. i never needed the compass the whole time i was out, but its a good thing to have along that weighs nothing, and can keep you from going miles in the wrong direction.its all good

man, just 10 more days and im outta here on that midnight train to georgia!!
amtrak leaves penn station at 2:30pm on 4/4, and gets into gainesville 4/5 at 7am.
its always kinda funny when im anticipating a lash.im excited and anxious to get out and enjoy the monotony of putting one foot in front of the other.it just feels so ironic to be anxious for peace.its all good -
ive been busy patching pinholes in the floor of my tent. i didnt use a groundcloth most of my hike last year, and have some small abrasions. i counted a dozen pinholes. the upside is the seamsealer im using for patching will have the added benefit of keeping my sleeping pad from sliding around the tent.its all good
