I'd have to bring 325 people with me with a lot of beer and shrimp. I'm not humping kegs up the bridle trail.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Friday I retire. Tuesday is my birthday. We are going to visit our new grand nephew this weekend in Cape Coral.
Wish I could top it off with some surfing at VA Beach. Happy LD everyone. -
Moving my daughter back to college. I get to do all the heavy lifting, since she's still nursing that busted ankle.
I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -
I'm gonna be 60. I'm glad I'm not the one who said don't trust anyone over 30.

GB, then we should double down on not trusting you.
Seriously, have a Happy Birthday! The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I will be working Monday, but may try to get away this weekend for a day or two hike. Looks like highs are headed back to the 80s instead of current and recent 90s and 100s. Rain looks like 40%, but that could change.
Have been making the most of the recent hot weather by swimming in our pool every night after I get home. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Even if you were, I wouldn't trust what you'd said.

Happy birthday GB.
I am spending the weekend packing and repacking before flying to Spain. Flight leaves 6am Tuesday. That's 6pm Monday for most of you guys. I will only be 6 hours in front of you for the next 8 weeks after that.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait. -

Best of luck to you! (Or should I go all Catholic on you and say, "may the prayers of St Bernard de Menthon, patron of pilgrims and mountain travelers, attend you on your journey, and those of St James receive you at your destination. May you safely ascend the mountains' heights and safely return, and in so doing ascend to that mountain which is Christ." ? No, that'd probably be a bit over the top.)
Incidentally, I've heard (from people who've done it) that you get a much different reception in Santiago de Compostela if you say on the paperwork that you've made the journey for spiritual reasons than that you've done it for cultural reasons or physical challenge.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -

off the tmi trail on the blue dot going along diamond mtn ridge. i hike a lot out of the reeves brook visitor center trailhead.except for the direct trails to pine meadow lake, the trails are usually pretty empty. blue dot down to the kakiat has a coupla hundred feet of scrambly down climbing. tough but fun and great views.saw a few deer and the usual turkey vultures but no other wildlife.its all good -
OK, I knew it looked familiar! Almost Perpendicular is just about my favorite overlook in the park. You're right that it's a little scrambly, but nothing that my daughter couldn't manage when she was ten. (I took her in then for a quick jaunt - just up to the overlook and back from Johnsontown Road. We did the loop around Parker Cabin and Claudius Smith a few years later.) Here's a picture from ten years ago, within a few steps of the same spot.
