I haven't bought a pair of boots in over 10 years. LaSportiva UltraRaptors have been my go to shoe since 2013. I had purchased the GTX version after hiking through slushy snow , but found the GTX didn't allow the same amount of "give" or flex the non-GTX version did, and I ended up with hot spots on my toes that I didn't get with the standard ones. While I haven't worn boots in a while, I was still looking for a shoe for winter and found they now make an UltraRaptor in a mid high boot, and a GTX leather version. Bonus-they are available in wide width.
While they are slightly heavier than my Ultraraptors, they are comfortable, with plenty of room in the toe box for my feet to expand.
anxious to see how they perform in snow.[IMG:https://lcdn.lasportivausa.com/pub/media/catalog/product/3/4/34k_810317_ultra_raptor_ii_mid_leather_wide_gtx_ivy_tango_red_w_1_1_1.jpg?width=700&height=700&store=en&image-type=image]
