I bailed. The temps were colder then my sleeping bag could handle. I hiked the Iron Mountain trail and crossed over through Beartree to the AT and hitched back to Damascus. Drove up to Massie Gap this morning and it was blowing about 50 mph and really cold.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Smart move, a man has to know his limitations...or at least his gears limitations, glad you had a good time though....I know you had a good time, pretty out there in the snow. -

Went to Damascus. Ate at the Blue Blaze Cafe, beat a guy named Timber at 8 Ball, had two IPA's. Hiked about 15 miles. My experiment with quilts during the winter didn't work. Watched a John Wayne movie with Larry. Drove to Grayson to see what I was missing. Drove home.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Did you ever notice you never see Crazy Larry and Larry the Cable Guy together? I think they are the same person.

Nice bail Rasty I did it once too - you could have tested in the backyard first... Did you layer up in the bag (bag inside another)? I saw this video last week and keep in mind I have never heard of this being colder. Not my thing.... but this is unbelievable.... good watch...

I've been down to 0. If the wind was blowing it'd be a little more uncomfortable for sure. Looks like a mild -25. I'm definitely not ready for that.
