Once again it appears Jerry Lee Lewis outlasted Chuck Berry.
He is also the only one still living of the Sun Million Dollar Quartet (Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison). The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Sorry, but it was Carl Perkins...not Orbinson. and not Chuck Berry... But Jerry Lee is the only one left.
(I had to look it all up to be sure)

Berry was a different thing. Famous rivalry with Jerry Lee. Like the time they decided Berry would close the show, so Jerry Lee set his piano on fire and told him to follow that. Or the time they raised the curtain and Chuck had a knife at Jerry Lee's throat, but Jerry Lee's dad had a gun pointed at Berry. I am sure there is plenty more.
Point being, Jerry Lee the most reckless and crazy of his contemporaries, ended up outliving them all.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I do remember watching some film where Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) is going to play with his idol, Chuck Berry. Chuck stops Keith almost every measure to tell him "that isn't right" "Do it THIS way" "I already TOLD you, don't play that G7TH there....".Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

didn't know that about Zappa. Heard a funny story about ZZ Top and them being asked about the band name. This was back in the day when Congress was being pushed to post warnings on "LP"s about content. So ZZ was asked about some of their songs and how they never seemed to be in the cross-hairs about censorship. They replied that they picked ZZ because it came after Zappa....and they figured the censors/rate-people who have their minds blown up by Zappa and so never get to "ZZ" (since ZZ and Zappa were around a decade before any ratings or censorship, this was all just them spinning tales).Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

'Zappa would also take the album and concert recordings, remove an instrument or singer that he felt didn't sound as good as a newer one. Release the album. And of course If someone was now no longer on that release they got no royalty check. The new person did. They sued and found out in court that fine print said he could do that. I heard a rumor his kids tried to make it up to them after he died.--

Oh I see, JB is making stuff up again. Are we sure he's not a politician? -

TMR is regarded as a very fine album of influence from Mississippi delta blues and shenanigans....it's quite strange, but signature beefheart. The post was edited 1 time, last by Socks ().
