That's the truth. I just want to be comfortable when temps are in the teens and twenties so I can be a 4 season backpacker.

I had a pair of flannel lined jeans when I lived in the UP. They were great when sitting, but the slightest activity proved too warm for me. Therefore I've always thought down pants would be excessive.meat wrote:

I've ridden down the highway with the air temperature at 27F. Wearing down pants over jeans, over long johns. Boots with 2 pair of socks.
It didn't feel like I had anything on other than swim trunks... my legs were very cold.
Get to the university, still outdoors, and I started sweating.
Yes, I had a coat, down vest, down mittens, and other gear on. I'm just referring to the down pants.--

The down pants are for downtime in camp. That's when I have problems staying warm.

Just ordered a 'Black Friday' deal from Warbonnet Hammocks. I sort of wrecked my BlackBird hammock this summer so I bought a replacement, the BlackBird XLC. I really do not need the extra length, but they sound so comfy.
Now I am eyeing a nice full length under Winter quilt for MLK weekend. Of course if I buy that this year it will be sunny and 60 degrees at night that weekend.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
