Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

some people -- police, fire, medical -- have to work today and that can't be helped.
but there is no reason the people at walmart, target, best buy, etc etc etc should have to wait on you instead of enjoying the day with their family. anything you need today could have been bought yesterday. or it can wait til tomorrow.
don't go shopping today.

I say, don't deny extra holiday cash to those who most need it. I probably won't go shopping today, but if I did I wouldn't feel too bad about the salesman who helps me with my purchase. Maybe the money he makes today will help feed his kids.

Y'all have a good Thanksgiving.
No. We don't have it here.
But we're ahead of you on holidays for the rest of the year so I am not envious.
I reckon turkey is overrated anyway. A good chicken is much tastier.

As a Long Islander (by background if not by residence), I'm partial to duck.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -
I did some research.
Despite Lincoln not killing a turkey given to him for a Christmas dinner because his son Tad had grown fond of it, the first turkey actually "pardoned" by a President was by George H.W. Bush.

I think there's only one duck farm left.
Although, the ducks they raise there are really big

I understand cranberries are native to North America. If you don't have them down under, I feel for you. -
I'm thankful for being able to visit daughter. We will be here through Friday. She lives near an REI. We don't have one at home. Can go shopping tomorrow. Oh crap they're closed tomorrow. Never mind. I'm not thankful for anything.

I am thankful for a lot of things. Mostly the family & friends I have. That includes all of you here. We may have not yet met, but I consider you all my friends!

Day-after-thanksgiving, 1989. We walked from Pinkham to Hermit Lake shelter under starlight and moonlight on Thanksgiving night. Plenty of snow but the trail is just a pleasant walk in the woods. Went down to -10F that night. Then up to the top of Tuckermans via Lions Head trail the next day. Yeah I think we wanted to do the summit but it didn't happen that day. Too late start, tough going in deep snow.

I got a surprise Thanksgiving gift from a guy at work. He found out I'm a junkie for heirloom vegetables and he's been growing Ham and Gravy crowder peas from seeds passed down from his grandfather so he brought me a jar of seeds! If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.

About 6 years ago we stayed at a B&B just around the corner from the church featured in the song (where Alice lived). Arlo bought it and turn red it into a community center (the Guthrie Center). We stopped to look around. They just had a 50th anniversary celebration of the events decried in the song.
