My day pack is an old EMS pack that I've been using for more than 20 years. No wonder EMS is no longer what they once were. Their stuff lasts too long.

I too played sports, football in the fall (defensive lineman) and ran track in the spring where I ran high hurdles, low hurdles and 1 leg in the mile relay. In my school being a jock didn't get you any extra consideration when it came to academics.

Geez, I almost didn't graduate high school. It all came down to my English final exam in my senior year. I did pass so I got to graduate with my class.

It's good to hear that they are issuing permits for 2021, I'm kind of surprised though due to covid.

I have 2 packs for day hikes, one larger than the other. The bigger one is for winter when I carry extra clothing and a stove, fuel, and pot. It's big enough, barely, to do an overnighter during summer months.

I'm not even sure how or where to get it. I guess I should look into it

Yesterday saw us back on the Long Path for 8 miles. 26 degrees when we started and 32 when we finish. The sky was gray all day with a high, 100% overcast, and there was a moderate breeze. One photo I can share appalachiantrailcafe.net/index.php/Attachment/13438/

The only real concession I made to being older was to make sure I bring glasses.

Actually I'm toying with the idea of having the wife's 1978 VW bus converted to have a Subaru engine installed. Just like the VW engine the Subaru engine is a 4 cylinder, horizontally opposed, engine and it has a lot more horsepower than the VW engine. I doubt it'll happen though as I think the money would be better spent on a new vehicle.

Our new tent is on it's way. We won't be able to use it until I do the seam sealing, and that may be weather dependent.
