PostYou should be asking "show us your coddle." Knowing full well that corned beef isn't really Irish, I still had corned beef in Dublin... Along with a cider appalachiantrailcafe.net/index.php/Attachment/8761/

I always liked Backpacker's gear issues. I was never going to seriously consider buying any of the featured gear, but it was entertaining just to look at the pictures. On the otherhand, it would be a disaster for our favorite flavor of the week cottage producer to actually appear in Backpacker, as most of them would collapse under the weight of wider exposure to the market.

Quote from StalkingTortoise: “Quote from Dan76: “Don't neglect to sample Belgian beer, chocolates, and of course cheese. ” Fixified the beer statement. One of my best memories of visiting my ancestral homeland in Sneek (Friesland area) was drinking fresh Belgian biers. Grolsch does make a killer spiced winter bier... For cheese, visit Kaashandel De Brink in Deventer. 250 different varieties on sale. ” Awe come on... Belgium use to part of the Netherlands -- its like the West Virginia of Europe. …

Quote from Dan76: “Don't neglect to sample Dutch beer, chocolates, and of course cheese. ” I did just that in Ireland and England, only is was the cider I was trying, and the blue cheeses were great. I plan to the same in the Netherland. Apparently the Dutch aren't known for their blue cheese but I look forward to trying it nonetheless as well as those that they are actually known for.

Quote from meat: “Quote from Tuckahoe: “My nearly 14yo niece surprised me at Christmas when she expressed interest in going on a hike with me sometime this year. ” mine have zero interest in bugs, campfires and the out of doors...preferring shopeene! ” My niece likes make up and shopping, but she's been car camping many times with friends and her mom and is an inline speed skater. I just need to find a pack to fit her now.

Didn't expect to come back to this thread... ...but Over budgeted and under spent last trip, had too much fun, airline tickets are very cheap, and work approved three weeks off again. Come August another trip to Europe -- London again, then Canterbury, a overnight ferry to the Netherlands for visits to Delft, Amsterdam, and Arnhem.

Once again, I've tossed a pair of hiking shoes that were barely two years old with minimal use and not many trail miles. Say what you will about modern gear and the modern materials and technology, the one thing that I miss is durability and ease of repair. I miss being able to care for an off the shelf pair of boots -- or any gear -- and getting easily, many serviceable years and being able to have kit competently repaired.

Quote from WanderingStovie: “Quote from Tuckahoe: “Quote from Dan76: “Quote from Tuckahoe: “Horny buck ended up as a butchering demonstration with stone tools. ” Expect some parental pushback. ” Nah, not at all. Though not everyday, butchering is a rather common part of our programming. We all to often get donations of harvested dear, fresh road kill and in the past the game department has brought us bear.Far from pushback, it's rather popular. ” I hope you meant deer, not dear. ” What's wrong w…
