  • Quote from Bo Peep: “1. What is overpenetration? When your bullet goes completely through what you were shooting at and hits something you didn't intend to hit. Like your neighbor. 2. I was told (and read) that FMJ’s are good for range shooting. Is that not correct? Are there other suggestions. FMJ are great for the range. Cheaper and cycle better in autos and don't lead foul the barrel. However, please do practice at least 10 rounds of what you intend to shoot for self-defense every time you go…

  • Somebody posted something about not using hollow point bullets? WTF is THAT about? A FMJ is FAR more dangerous to innocent bystanders due to pass-through overpenetration and ricochet and FAR less lethal to the bad guy. Again, WTF? I don't carry ANY round that is NOT a hollow point(ALL LEO carry hollow point), except for the Extreme Penetrators in my 9mm and 10mm when in the wilderness and may need to kill something very big and very thick. I wouldn't even DREAM of using anything but the DEEPEST …

  • Quote from SarcasmTheElf: “[Edit: Sorry that this post is a little garbled, I wrote it on my phone which makes editing difficult] WOO, I've taken a handful of knife defense courses over the years that included various practice scenarios and the short version of the answer is because at close range knives are far more deadly than most people understand and knife attacks generally happen extremely quickly. Knives rarely miss, don't jam, don't run out of ammo, and are generally horrific weapons to …

I've never needed more than rain pants over lightweight bottoms, like Terramar. In fact, I ski in essentially the same get up. Waterproof breathable pants(heavier denier than rain pants) with lightweight bottoms underneath. In camp, I just wear the same unless it is below 20. Then I throw on the heavier weight bottoms. I saw some dudes with....down pants on the AT. It got down to 25 that night, but these guys were awful proud of their down pants.... For a 3 night in March on the AT in TN or NC I…

Then in my junior year of high school my chemistry teacher just wouldn't pass any of my lab reports, no matter how I wrote them. I should have stayed just to p*ss off Mrs Lee, but I didn't plus I didn't take any science course in my senior year. Where I live senior citizen can take courses a…

East St. Louis, IL and St. Louis, MO are two totally different entities. While I may not choose to LIVE in the city of STL, I sure as hell do WORK there. Almost 100 percent of the homicides are African-American on African-American and occur in some bad neighborhoods. Outside of those hoods, which have no hospitals within 5 miles, there is very little violent crime and almost no murders. The suburbs to the west are particularly safe, but a bit spendy. The Illinois suburbs on the north side are qu…

  • Quote from Bo Peep: “I took my old 38 to the range today. It hasn’t been used for a very, long time and my intention was to trade it in for something lighter. I decided...what the hey, may as well test my own revolver. I was a lot more confident and relaxed this time. The revolver was fun to shoot, although the double action was a bit hard (is that the right way to say it?). I liked cocking the hammer then pulling the trigger. Pulling the trigger without pulling the hammer back was hard and made…
