ft bastian is an adventure camp started by tru brit, a former brithish sas agent, who also teaches survival skills and living off the grid.
he also helps thru hikers, for $7 gives you a place to camp, free shuttles into town for resupply as well as shuttle back and forth to the trail head.
I stayed there for 3 weeks after my section hike this spring.
he's getting married and having a baby, so he's now thinking of selling the place, he had sunk every penny he had into it, and thinks its an economic black holeits all good -

If it's an economic black hole, it's because $7 is too low IMO.I am human and I need to be loved - just like everybody else does

well tru brit refuses to take money from hikers. the $7 is collected to basically pay it forward to the next wave of hikers coming in.
he had counted on a number of hikers returning to attend his survival training courses, but very few have.its all good -

I'm still here maintaining & improving what I can. Not sure what will happen this year as Trubrit is in FL with Brittney during their pregancy. I know Trubrit has run this place many yeas. Mostly at his own expense. I hope to find a way for it to continue. -

I wish you well in this noble pursuit Mountain Mike! The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Rumor has it Trubrit caught a hiker stealing from another hikers pack last season and started beating him. The hiker was pleading to him to stop yet Trubrit continued to beat him. Of course, shame on the hiker thief, but I' probably would have just tossed to and let other service providers know his name.

no rumor, although i would hardly call it a beating. the kid was tripping on acid bragging that he was going to steal from us, hed already been caught stealing gear from one of the warrior hikers a few days earlier. tru brit told him to get off his property. a few minutes later he told us to check our tents to make sure he didnt take anything, found out the kid had gone back to his tent and never left, went down to his tent pulled him out of the tent, and sent him a message. i dont think the thief was seriously hurt.its all good -
