I try not to complain about our sister site. This site is great for socializing and freewheeling. The moderators want to keep that site more factual and technical. There's ample room for both. I have people that I respect here that have been bounced from there, and people that I respect there who either aren't interested in coming here or don't feel welcome. (I've hiked with some from both those groups.) I would hope that neither site gets so petty as to shut me off merely for using the other.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here.

kevin, this is the 2nd time i have seen you use the term "sister site". "sister site" would imply that the owners of the 2 sites are jointly working together to provide content, etc. it will be a cold day in hell before that happens. the vitriol goes both ways.
i'm laughing too hard to be able to address your comment that the other site wants to be factual and technical. the treatment of doyle and tarlin disproves your comment.2,000 miler -

Laugh all you like. Do you actually believe that those two were sent away for their technical contributions? Isn't it more likely that they were sent away in spite of them?
I rather agree with you, actually, about the enmity between the two sister sites. There's nothing as ugly as a family squabble. Some families keep them going for decades.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -
My congratulations got me a week on moderated status.I am human and I need to be loved - just like everybody else does

Good Luck with the new job!The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

WB? You can get kicked off of there for posting stuff elsewhere. It depends on how much you penetrate ... (how do I say this without him knowing who I am talking about?) .... I try not to stroke narcissists. I know at least one person, who I think left this site because we (I) called out persons from other sites. You know how dysfunctionally aggressive I am. -

I thought he was going to Maine and then Soboing.

that was the plan...but someone who was following along his with his hike contacted him somewhere in maine and offered him a job in montana working on the pipeline. dakota joe called it "crazy money" -- more than he could ever dream of making. so he finished up and then was going to head to montana.2,000 miler -

Still no word from DJ. I saw a Facebook post earlier today that said he was "Wandering in the Wild West". Not sure what that exactly means or if his plans changed or what. Last he told me was he was to start his job on July 9th. Maybe we will hear something soon....RIAP

Blissful's cool. we dont see eye to eye on a lot of things, but there's mutual respect.she runs the section hiker group.
I met her last year at addis gap, asked her if she was gonna be mad if i slept with my food.we had gotten into it a bit in a debate about hanging your food -she said "you and lone wolf are just hard asses. i guess you'll do what you want anyway."
i slept with my food.

The problem I had with the moderation at TOS is I never knew what the heck I did wrong, like beating a dog the next day after doing something wrong, didn't connect, made me wonder what was going on in Gators mind to find some of the things offensive.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.
