Starbucks makes a mean hot chocolate made with Mocha syrup. That's then used in several recipes for several drinks but I have discovered that the ratio after grabbing an Acme hot chocolate powder mix last week that once you get past what we had as kids - as adults we can make a better product from scratch for the trail. Hearshey and Nestle have made raw ingredients for years available so we can experiment and have a little fun... So read on and share if you have done this. Keep in mind this is almost 2x the amount of powder to water - so please do not be surprised.. and don't share with the kids.
Ratio adjusted to 1 cup of boiling hot water.
1.5 tablespoons of cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of Nido whole milk powder (found at the Walmart super centers in the ethnic isle by Nestle)
2 tablespoons of Demerara sugar
dash of nutmeg
mix ingredients in smallest glad bag or vac seal
Mix with hot water with quality spork
Garnish with whipped cream on trail... go figure.
