Not only does Wired have a streamlined gear set, her daily posts from the trail are pretty cool. I hate when following a blog, the hiker 'disappears' dosent post for 2-3-4 weeks. It's like, hey, what happened last WEEK?

Followed these links when Wired posted over on TOS. All this stuff makes me feel old -- I mean, none of this info was available back in the day, let alone the sage advice, the awesome links to resources, the journals, the up-to-date gear photos and reviews, the gear itself, or the awesome web skills to present it all in such a professional manner. She's made it all too easy! Any gomer ought to be able to sleepwalk from Springer to Katahdin, it's gotten so easy.

Does anyone else feel like there's only so much one can read about hiking before it starts affecting their own hikes? I stay away from Trail Journal's...Annie's and one about the BMT are the only ones I've read. I want my experiences to be my own. I want to form my own opinions, learn from my own mistakes, and see things from virgin eyes. I enjoy reading the trip reports here and an occasional book, but otherwise I tend to avoid people's blogs.Lost in the right direction.

I'm with you on that. I'll keep up with anybody that I have met. For example if you or anyone on this site was writing one I would keep up with you. Annie's about her and Oz's Camino is the last one I read. I know a girl who can tell you where everybody is at, at any given time on the AT from Trail Journals. To each his own. I haven't "followed" hikers on the TrailJournals site, haven't really read a single journal on that site from end-to-end. I have however read tons of journals as books or eBooks. I'm not too worried about how the journals will affect my hike, I know that no two hikes are the same.
Besides, my eyes are long past being virgin. That ship has sailed.

(LOL) Haven't heard that in a while. Shellie got me the other day with one. We were in our travel trailer and she was trying to squeeze behind me in the kitchen and said there wasn't enough room in this trailer to cuss a cat.
