Great job with the video. Everything on the menu looked great except those scrambled eggs...only MH meal I just could not eat. You did a better job than I on the first bite of that Ramen/cheddar broccoli meal, what I said was *^&^%##. I've done the Finger Lakes wine tasting trail many times but not the hiking trail...wish I'd been into hiking when I lived there.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

taro gave me some ramen for lunch once on my thru. the next time i have it will be my second.
nothing wrong with it, but i think there are more substantial and tastier options for supper, and i don't think i have ever cooked (except as above) at lunch as its not worth (to me) the time or effort.2,000 miler -
rah-men is my main staple on the trail, its light and it packs some calories.its all good

How'd the Bear Creek Coountry Kitchen Broccoli and Chedder work out? I have been thinking of trying it out on my next hike with the addittion of some dried broccoli, mushrooms and a can of chicken.Of course I talk to myself... sometimes I need expert advice.

I use Ramen as a base for many meals, agree with HB, it's a staple for me, alone it's kinda crappy but spice it up with some dehydrated taco meat, soup, salmon, etc. and it's a tasty meal with a lot of energy in it.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

I'm not against Ramen, I eat it sometimes too. It's the easiest thing to pack, especially a spur-of-the-moment hiking trip.
12trysomething, I loved the video because you were obviously having a great time. It's fun to go on short hikes and take a lot of extra stuff.Lost in the right direction. -
Ramen is also great when you have a lot of teenage boys around the house.

If it was raining too hard around the Finger Lakes I would be tempted to just head to Cooperstown instead.

If I ever get to do the hike from NYC to my son's place in Ohio the Finger Lakes Trail will be my route across NY state.
I've only been on it for a bit in the Catskills. -

I've been on it only from the eastern terminus to the Denning trailhead - what's that, a mile or so?

I don't know about mostly, but yes a lot of it is roadwalk. I do have the map set, guess I could check, but........ -
I've done a teeny bit of the FLT, right around the Finger Lakes. That was back when I was living in Ra-Cha-Cha. Here's a pic from the Hi Torr Wildlife Management Area, south of Naples NY. You're looking up the length of Canandaigua Lake.
My wife and I spent a night in a shelter on the FLT once. Nearly a disaster... these two twenty-something guys were there, one of them stupid drunk. Wife took it in stride, but it was not the scene I was hoping for. We probably should have moved on.
