128 or so miles. I'd love to do a longer trip but my boss would stop paying me.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

He's doing it "right" that's the problem...Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -
2127 when I thrued the AT. It was shorter 26 years ago. Next longest wa 1900 on PCT when my attempted thru I had to skip the Sierra due to record high snow year. Now I prefer Lashes. 500 miles or so. Enough to enjoy trail legs but not long enough for your body to break down from a long hike.

I don't believe that's possible...I can't make it one mile...but I always stumble forward, speeds the hike along.I may grow old but I'll never grow up. -

356 miles last summer. Hope to surpass that next summer. Since my son will be 15 and playing American Legion I will not be coaching his All-Star teams anymore, and I should be able to get away a little earlier. Maybe even top the 500 mark if everything goes well. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

About 670 miles, NOBO on AT from Amicalola Falls State Park to VA Rte. 621, aka Rocky Gap, in 1990. 2nd longest section was 587 miles, SOBO on the AT, from Lehigh Gap (PA) to Rocky Gap in 2007. Several 100+ mile sections of AT in New England: Hanover to Bennington VT, Hudson River to Great Barrington MA, and Hudson River to Lehigh Gap.

On my trip, I was surprised at how many long distance section hikers there were. Met a few thru hikers, and a handful of people like me who were out for a week. Saw a bunch of day hikers on weekends. But mostly I met section hikers who were out for a month or two.
