I received a report from the Grayson County Sheriff's Dept that a hiker died on the AT over the weekend near Elk Garden, VA. His name was Edward Hewitt age 70 of Baltimore. It is rumored that Ed had thru hiked the AT.

Good morning. For those of you who have been around for a while you might remember my father Ed Hewitt. He was a long time BRRC member and passionate runner. Running the 1st MD marathon in 1973. He went on to run 31 marathons and lots of local races. He loved Loch Raven Reservoir. He logged 1000 ' s of miles out there. He passed away yesterday, Sunday March 9th having a massive heart attack while hiking Mt Rogers outside of Roanoke. He loved running and he loved running with BRRC.2,000 miler -

I found his FB page this morning.
TW....I don't think they do......and of course......was it on a blue blaze orange blaze, parking lot, while pink blazing, in a car on the way or maybe swimming in a pond NEAR the trail........I posed this question 2 years ago and got mauled on the Blaze over it.Cheesecake> Ramen -
