My first kid was a no brainer- I'm a third, my firstborn was a boy, I'm an egomaniac, so he's the fourth.
Easy as the C&O towpath.
Child number two though...
I'll take suggestions- but my wife and I had a deal- since I picked the first one, she picks the second. Girl names are pretty easy to pick, but boy's names are tricky, especially as we don't want to go with the standard Tom, Dick, and Hairy names.
But the purpose of this thread is to discuss a specific name- out of left field she pitched out the name "Avery" (for a boy- took me a bit to realize that too). My last name is Townsend- that would make young Avery's initials AT, and if we are talking history- I'm more of a Myron fan than the other fella who's name should be easy to pronounce but for some reason is pronounced like a gay star trek actor's name.
Long story short (Who am I kidding, I can't make a short story short);
What do you think of a fella named Avery?
Reminds me of a name that falls into the "boy named Sue" category.
It sounds kinda gay, not that I would have a huge problem with that, but if he was gay the name would probably commit him to being flaming gay and unlikely to hike and therefore appreciate his name and initials.
Can't find another "A" name we like, and I've got the initials stuck in my head.
Asshole would be a cool name for a dude, but I don't smoke meth or live in a trailer so I can't commit to that.
All that said, Avery is kinda growing on me.
