I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a thread devoted to the death of family members, friends, beloved pets or just to share an interesting obituary from the news paper.

Last year near Boston a family wrote the following obituary for their loved one.
patriotledger.com/news/2016121…from-stubbornness-whiskey
I can only pray I get a send off half this good ...“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”

As many of you know my dad just passed three weeks ago. Odd to me and many others, friends and family - I am not grieving, In fact, I am not sure still how to respond to "sorry for your loss" My dad had a life many would envy. I grew up in his shadow and watched him travel the world, climbed the french side of the Alps and other mountains, Hike many states of the AT, Kayak many lakes, rivers, backbays, camp all of the state campgrounds of PA, Bike rail to trail. Went to many of the federal parks, Canada included. Canoe the Lehigh River when the dam released water. etc etc.... I have good memories of a life well lived, He fought cancer for 5 years and had it under control for 3 years. And he managed to finish his lifelong goals.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!
