This is from the heart, I thought I could move on after three weeks.. I cannot. I spent time today with Belle's brother. Kim. He is dominant and well trained by my dad who is dying of cancer at 80 years old. My hiking dog and awesome partner on the trail has passed after two years.Jack Russel's live 15- 18 years. This is a huge commitment.- one that i accepted and wanted to succeed.
Three weeks ago something happened I was not prepared for, Two years of training went to garbage in a few seconds. Belle died, She after two years of training, decided to bypass and bring back a dead rabbit at the top of the driveway. The rabbit was not in the road, it was under the mailbox. Belle got tapped bringing back the rabbit after I had secured the dog inside the house... my wife let Belle out a half hour later.....
Once she was tapped she picked up the rabbit and dropped it in the front yard and died.
I must have hugged her body for more than an hour on the driveway.. a wonderful neighbor from across the street came to help to bury her.
