Pole wouldn't allow for multiple choice. I always have a swiss & a fixed blade. Swiss has sissors to trim & clean my nails & cut my hair. Fixed is for dlicing & dicing when I cook & can baton & split wood when I want a fire.
Yup, I got an old timer scar.NoAngel wrote:
Old Timer, now that's a good knife. My granddaddy gave me one when I was little. Still got the scar where I whittled the side of my index finger.
Got one of them too. 9 or 10 sutures to close the slice in my knee. Ruined my 2013 summer hiking. Had to call the mrs on the cell from the garage to come out the house and take me to the ER.Luckily I was by my hiking kit and grabbed the FAK and slapped some butterflys on it and 4x4s. The ER doc was impressed.meat wrote:

Wait, I take that back, it was from an exacto blade!

Got an OT just like that sitting on the window sill above the work bench in the basement (and a big boy hunter in the truck for when I might kill a deer and I forgot my knife0, use it all the time, stays open...I'd call OT a "best buy", but it's too heavy for the trail.meat wrote:

Used to have an Old Timer and Uncle Henry. Not for sure where they are now. Perhaps one of my children might know.

If you eyeball the blade on the Uncle Henry I showed, you will think the blade is alittle short maybe. I have been keeping it sharp since I bought it in 1981......Astro wrote:

The Schrade was chosen because it doesn't have a point. One of the functions I need is to be able to deploy the knife in a hypothermia event to cut a pack off or cut into a pack. I don't need to be stabbing myself or anyone else. It's also a good river knife. You don't want pointy things on things that rely upon air pressure to stay afloat...just sayin...
For under $20, it's a steal....
