This chimney and fireplace is part of the ruins of Camp 18 of Company 201 of the CCC
This camp was called Pine Meadow and is located in Harriman State Park near the lake of the same name.
And maybe the best part is that there is legal camping here in this area.
There are numerous cellars, foundation piers, woods roads, and even what we think was a root cellar, in the area.
That cement plaque most of the way up the chimney is where the camp, and company name and numbers are.
The CCC built a lot of the infrastructure in the park that includes roads, dams, water systems and who knows what else.
Judging by the amount of left over camp ruins there must have been quite a large amount of men stationed here.
