bought myself some new boots, Timberland

Cost me $99.98 at Shoe Carnival... actually bought some that fit 13W. Box says normal price is $109.99. The store's stock of $89.99 boots were out.

Timberland waterproof.TB012135 W/L. Comfy in the store. And they are long enough I shouldn't have to worry too much on hitting my big toe going down hill. I hope.

I have a friend that worked at Timberland who gave me a pair of their boots. They have held up very well over the years. They are heavy compared to my usual trail shoe, but have been very comfortable. Never a blister. I mostly use them as daily wear in wet slushy weather, snow shoveling, and for the MLK weekend hikes.

Timberland is probably not the first thing people think of for hiking boots, but I have been very happy with mine.

I've been doing mostly construction the last two months renovating a kitchen. I've been wearing my safety Merrells with the steel toe mesh.

The company buys me Timberland safety boots. I wear them on the trail when the conditions get to where trail runners can't hack it, but it isn't cold enough for my Sorel pac boots. They're Too Heavy, but I'm a cheap SOB, and they don't cost me anything directly. My current pair are last year's version of this model.

I have steel toed boots made by Red Wing Shoes. I would not want to hike in them.

I got some redwing hunting boots. Anything above 20° and I sweat in them. I think they are at least 35 years old and still kickin. Tread is showing some wear.

These were near the safety shoes but I made sure they aren't steel toed.

I didn't know that Timberland made hiking shoes and boots but just checked their web site and was amazed by how many different kinds they have.
How are those new Timberlands while hiking in them?

Just around the house to make sure they fit. Otherwise I couldn't return them. I hope to get out to Cheaha with them on. Probably wear them shopping to. To break them in.

I use my HiTec Altitudes in a similar manner. For around town or slushy/muddy day hikes, they work. Use them for trail work, too.

Still a place for leather boots in the footwear quiver.

wow, didn't know hi tec boots were still around. don't read anyone on forums anymore recommending them. i remember way back when they were the super popular light weight alternative to leather boots. they were the last pair of boots i ever bought before transitioning to trail runners. was hiking the state of vermont in 1995 when my boots failed. made it into manchester center and bought a pair at an outlet center. probably $40. good boot for what it was.

I bought a pair on sale on for one of my sons for BSA camping/hiking .

Wore my boots shopping this morning. Still comfy if a bit tight after about 30 to 40 minutes.

Certainly a better fit than the previous pair of 12w boots.

Yep the Altitude (up to version 5 I believe) is still around. I have my pair (version IV) on right now. Use them for my daily walking commute in this slushy weather. At ~$100 a pair, reasonably priced. Dick's and similar mainly sell them. You can often find them on sale for $75. Some version IV's still around. Not sure of thefunctional difference between the two other than the uppers look to have slightly different constructions.
