I like it too. Didn't know that it was a song...just thought it was a commercial on TV. Thanks, Merry Christmas!

And from the movie of the same name:
White Christmas
was a little disconcerted to hear Bing speaking in some other language in between verses. -
-
Here's one of my Dziadzia's (Grandfather) favorites:
Dzisiaj W Betlejem
We only sang 2 verses so I don't know the additional verses. Nice to hear.
Here's the Karaoke version:
Dzisiaj w Betlejem - Polskie Kolędy
Wesoly Swiat! -
Yesterday was Lucia Day - the kick off to the Christmas season in Sweden. Exactly how a third century Sicilian martyr became such a big deal in Sweden is a mystery. The the music and the pageant is a highlight.

I'm in heaven; the Hallmark Movies Channel is playing A Very Happy Yule Log which is a video camera set up in front of the fireplace videoing the antics of dogs and cats while playing zillions of Christmas carols. Love, love, love this!
Joy to the World by Celtic Women
I listened to about 1/2 dozen Joy to the Worlds on youtube and this was the best one. -
And speaking of Hallelujah, how about this Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah performed by the Royal Choral Society:
Hallelujah Chorus
As we were walking out of mass last evening, the organist played this and I sang on the way out. The woman walking out just in front of me turned around and gave me a look. Oh well, Just full of Joy! (or maybe it's that I can't hit the highest notes like I used to) -
My brother was born on December 21 and Mom said she heard this song quite a few times in the hospital; later when hearing it, she would say it reminded her of that time:
Little Drummer Boy - bagpipes & drums -

Last night was the 200th anniversary of Silent Night. I have a love-hate relationship with this carol. It is a fine Christmas song, but I feel it suffers from over exposure. I think every Christmas concert or album I've heard has Silent Night. It's almost like some sort of requirement. Then when I hear it, I just think about all the great songs that didn't make the cut because the artist felt compelled to include Silent Night.

Max,
I like Taylor, and I think that must be the worst version of Silent Night I have ever heard.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”
John Greenleaf Whittier
