This time next week I will be on the train heading to Chicago, eventually getting to New York City (Penn) on Thursday evening, where I can catch another train back out to Pawling/Wingdale (from Grand Central). Which should allow me to actually start hiking on Friday morning (July 1). Goal is to do CT-MA-VT-NH and make it to ME by the first week of August (hopefully knocking out the first 30 or so miles of ME while I have my legs, instead of starting there next summer).
Planning to meet up with Coach Lou and maybe even Hiker Boy. Hiking the AT is a lot fun, but even more so when you meet up with great people like that. Last summer I also met Jimmy Jam, Blissful, and saw Deer Hunter again.
Gonna be a busy week. Lots of grading to do, youngest son's Baseball Showcase tournament at Arkansas State, pack and ship maildrops, try to do as much walking as possible, and what ever else my wife wants done before I leave.
But hey it is almost here!

The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.
