First female leg ampute AT completion

VIRGINIA (WSLS 10) -A new record was set on the Appalachian Trail Sunday, December 27th, 2015.

Niki Rellon became the first female leg amputee to complete a thru-hike of the 2,100 trail.
Rellon’s journey started in March.

During the trip, she suffered some setbacks involving her prosthetic leg and even got frostbite.
The former triathlete says she plans on writing a book next.

It's an achievement to hike the AT but giving her hike the title "record" is a bit odd to me. Do we now wait for the next amputee and keep a watch on how long she takes?
And I'll take Wolf's comment to indicate that she's not necessarily a nice person.
So - well done but let's not get too overawed. Those new prosthetics are pretty snazzy and she had less blisters than some I know.

Bionic Woman? Yeah, met her twice...once at the AT kickoff at Amicalola at her onset and later while I was in Gorham, NH at White Mountains Lodge and Hostel. She, sadly, comes across as a bit of a bitch. I was in awe of her and thought of her a lot on my trek from the first time I met her until the last, wondering how she was doing. It was a bit deflating to meet her in Gorham, hear her fussing at everyone around, wanting special treatment, and being anything but friendly. Supposedly she had to get off Katahdin by helicopter.

I wonder how she's just now finishing??? She summited Katahdin before I did. She must have had to come back and do a section she missed?

she came to where i work in damascus and yogied gear off my boss. she had a gofundme site. very bitchy indeed. not impressed at all by this attention whore

I know an older veteran who has to wear a prosthetic leg. His prosthetic leg didn't fit right until he changed technicians who worked on it. Now, after several years of pain, his prosthetic leg fits.

Could she be having the same problem ?

Myself, unless I can come up with my own funding, I wont be hiking the AT. And gofundme isn't it.

I worked as a part-time janitor in the 1970s, pay was awful. Cleaned offices. I needed the work to eat. But I would rather have found something else. I did after I got my degree in Computer Science, fixing computers and printers.

Best cleaning crew we ever had at a prior job were bunch of xxxxx guys. Background check on the company showed most them had PhDs in Electrical Engineering. Needless to say a new contract with another firm was quickly arranged.
