Whenever giving advice to another hiker, refrain from using the word "need" and whenever possible replace the word "You" with "I"Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I find kit to be a quite useful and appropriate word. It's "system" that I can't stand hearing.
Also agree with Elf -- I find it irritating everytime someone tells someone else what they "need."Of course I talk to myself... sometimes I need expert advice. -

I had some plans once for a building in the shipyard that were drawn to a metric scale and we had to convert everything over. Really made me dislike the metric measurement system even though logically it's simpler."Dazed and Confused"

I had to learn it in the 4th grade... good for 5 points for my final grade. I memorized it, wrote it on my final, and got the five points. Teacher was upset for some reason.--

I lived through converting from Imperial to metric. You guys have things slightly different from imperial so in 2013 I had to learn a third system. I have few problems.
And as an Australian, no worries is a national phrase. Easier to tell someone from the south to stop saying y'all.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait. -

When I first got out of the military, I enjoyed eating......not many jobs open for what I was trained for 8| ...so I started doing what my Dad did, he had an Autobody repair shop, and I knew that. The United States Auto Industry was going metric, the company I still work for was very progressive, and he had just bought 2 Frame Machines........they were metric.....I embraced it and I can measure in both....no sweat. That Celsius/ Fahrenheit thing i don't get though!
When I hear someone say to me 'No worries', it gives me the impression that you think I may be more upset about something than I really am.
If I'm po'ed about something, believe me, everyone around me will be worrying!Cheesecake> Ramen -
dang, y'all are particular, just sayin'. But no worries, YMMV. Coffee.gifLost in the right direction.

I used to love to listen to that when my boys were younger.

To define the metric I would use in establishing a price point for my sleep system, I distributed a beta tester to several people. My mileage varied greatly on the feedback. All of you really need to embrace the way I did this. I can't think of a good way to work "dichotomy" in here or I would.

ASAP!
Its not so much ASAP that bothers me, but it is that folks spell it out -- A - S - A - P -- rather than using the acronym as a word, a-sap. The whole point of the word is to spead up communication and all that happens is it gets slowed down. It is especially annoying in cop shows, medical dramas and war movies.Of course I talk to myself... sometimes I need expert advice. -

"best" as in "The best (insert type of gear here) for hiking is...."
"sockdolager" as in "That climb up to Dragon's Tooth is a real sockdolager"
And there are three non-metric countries: US, Burma, and Liberia. It is just like the US to aspire to live up to the leadership of Liberia and Burma. -
