Anyone have any experience with a Fitbit?
Considering buying a Charge ($89). I am thinking it could also replace my watch.
Any feedback is appreciated.

I have a flex, just bought it last Friday.
Details uploaded in 7 days. It keeps 30 days of data. Charge held for 5 days. It tracks steps, miles, and sleep patterns. The rest I have to enter manually; water drunk each day, food eaten.
They have forums. So you might ask there what other people's experiences are.
I can get different color wristbands for the flex, they are expensive. 3 for $30.00--

I have one sitting in an Amazon box on my hearth that's a Christmas gift for my wife as well. Not sure of the model and can't tell you more about it than I already have, sorry. I don't even wear a watch. Heck, I have to carry a phone around and it keeps good time so I don't see the need.If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.

I know I'm getting one for Christmas I hear it's not so good for trails, but also has to be calibrated for your stride - ?

It was great meeting you this summer at Gravel Springs Hut. The next day I took off my sling, and did two 18+ mile days and then made it to Pawling, NY before I had to get back to school. Had to have rotator cuff surgery in September (it was torn in 5 places), but hoping to get back out to complete the Ouachita Trail this winter, and do CT-NH this summer, leaving ME for 2017.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

You have to tell the fitbit, via an app on your android device, or a program on your home computer, what your pace is. But it keeps track of both paces and distance. So, hiking on non-flat areas, its not going to track your distance accurately. Note that their watch has GPS on it, so that could ( I have no idea on accuracy) track your distance hiked regardeless of terrain.
I found the flex has a problem tracking my sleep. I'll sleep for 6 or 7 hours, it claims I slept for 2. I do toss and turn in my sleep. But if I take it off, and start the sleep tap on the device, and wen I get up in the morning stop the sleep count on the device ( tap for 1-2 seconds until it vibrates once), I've slept for 8 hours.
So evidently there is some arm motion in my tossing/turning that sets the flex to stop tracking my sleep.
The only other problem is, the flex, no idea on the more expensive ones, cannot show me anything until I sync it with the computer program. I haven't tried a sync with the app that can be downloaded to my cell phone yet.--

Well I don't want to burst any bubbles - its a glorified digital pedometer. It can't tell you accurately if you did a mile or a mile and a half. IF you ate a 1000 calories one day and 500 the next ... it is going to be the next VCR
Garmin and apps is really the way to go.
free is Microsoft Tracks for your phone..

You have to set the length of your pace on the computer you sync to.
I've noticed that if I get up during the ngiht, and then go back to sleep, it doesn't count the second sleep session as sleep. So I just don't wear it at night and type in my sleep time on the web site.--

At least that's what my son tells me. My flip phone doesn't do all that fancy stuff. -

fitness bands are sooo 2015; all the cool kids are wearing polotech by ralph lauren. $295.

The next evolution of wearable technology from Ralph Lauren, the PoloTech Shirt works with an iPhone® or Apple Watch® to put real-time workout data in the palm of your hand. Silver fibers woven directly into the fabric read heart rate and breathing depth and balance, as well as other key metrics, which are streamed to your device via a detachable, Bluetooth-enabled black box. Created exclusively for use with the shirt, the PoloTech App (available from the US App Store only) offers live biometrics, adaptive workouts and more. The shirt seamlessly melds modern innovation with an iconic look that is unmistakably Polo.

I've seen a few adverts on thre new fitbits. Apparently more of them have gps and a small led dot-matrix style readout on the device. I know the new flex is $150, the old one I have was $99.--

Does sound more useful than a fitbit though.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

Well, isn't that special.
In order for me to download the Windows 10 app onto my Win 10 desktop computer, I have to create a microsoft account. and according to the forums at fitbit, no syc button. It does have continuous sync, is which kinda silly. Not carrying my desktop computer with me as I walk.--
