I would rather crawl on my hands and knees from coast to coast than ride a damned horse.
Come to think of it, a damn horse could carry a lot of water. Not an assload of water as you would need, well, an ass for that, but still a lot of water. I could walk, not crawl, along beside him while he carried my pack. And my food too, a lot of food. All I would have to carry would be a rifle so I could shoot his obstinate ass when he inevitably flipped his gourd. If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid. The post was edited 1 time, last by Foresight ().

Oooh, another bonus; in those areas devoid of trees I could simply mosey his ass on down to the highway and find a power pole when it was time to hang my hammock. one end to the power pole and the other to whatever you call those things that you put on horse's backs to carry stuff on. You'd have to hobble him pretty damn good so he didn't cause you to lose tension, but that's doable. If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.

Saddle. The thing you sit on when riding a horse.--

RIP Mike "Lion King" Daniel -- AT, PCT, CT, John Muir, and of course the first to thru hike the 6,800 mile ADT. Also made several documentaries.
From Wikipedia: The first person to backpack the entire 6,800 miles (10,944 km) (including both Northern and Southern sections) in one continuous hike was Mike "Lion King" Daniel. He started from Cape Henlopen State Park on June 17, 2007, and ended at Point Reyes, California on November 5, 2008.[7][8]
Press release from the ADT at the conclusion of his thru hike:
