Quote from TrafficJam: “I've been organizing my old pots and half-full bags of hummus/potting soil so I can start some herbs. Its a little late but I'm going to try it anyway. There's an herb farm I plan to visit to buy some plants. If you had to list 10 essential herbs, what would they be? I would like a combination of cooking and medicinal, preferably multipurpose. I have a strawberry jar that I'd like to put herbs in, any suggestions on what to put in it? ” Mint, watch out its invasive (I hav…

Quote from sheepdog: “Saw a big bobcat run across the road yesterday. Right in the middle of the day. We have a lot of them in the area but you rarely see them. ” ok, this is gonna sound like a big lie...lol Yesterday my wife and I saw a young black bear crossing the road. We see a couple bears a year. This is the first time I've ever seen a bobcat and a bear in the same week. It's been a good week and I still have a couple days left.

The END of EMS
PostWhen I got out of prison, I was the backpacking guy for a large local outdoor store. I had a couple and their four kids come in and I fitted them all for packs and showed them the latest gear. I spent over two hours with them. They wife took notes, they thanked me and said they'd think about it. I know they just went to the web and bought it.

When I process them I will smoke 4-6 of them. I use Apple wood and smoke about 3 hours at 250*. I pull the meat off the bones and vacuum pack them in half pound bags. It is good on crackers, made into dips or add bbq sauce for sandwiches.

appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…d52671e077a6a1e900288d369 I took this picture last year. Eagles are camera shy if you don't have good lenses. We see eagles a couple times a day. They are fishing the lake real hard to feed their babies. The tourons will be up soon and they find quiet water to fish and we won't see them as much.

PostQuote from SarcasmTheElf: “This time of year I keep seeing photos of people posing with unofficial mileage markers for 100 mile points (i.e. 100, 200, 500, etc miles from Springer) most are made of pebbles or sticks, or are scratched in the ground. For some reason I'm tempted to setup fake mileage markers on the trail 20-30 miles south of the actual mileage point. ” Any other site than this the LNT nazis would be all over you. 8-)
