PostThey got beat so it's not totally like the Washington Generals playing the Harlem Globetrotters. They are now 8-3 on their World Tour. Family entertainment; we took the boys to see the Globetrotters every year for a while, I sure they would have enjoyed this also. The guy on stilts (9' 11") came on in relief. I gotta say...I enjoyed the rule that prohibits the batter from stepping out of the box. If you do it it's a called strike -- so no one did it Next move is yours, Manfred. They've sold out …

The Georgia AT has plenty of road crossings, both "normal" paved roads and forest service raods, so it is easy to pick a section that fits your mileage preferences. For a 50 mile section, you can start at Springer (the start of the AT) which is accessed on a good forest service road and hike to Unicoi Gap on GA 75 which is on a paved road with a large parking area. There are towns both east and west of the gap about 10 miles away. For a 60 mile section you could start at Amicalola Falls State Pa…

PostI just an alert on my phone...Savananah Bananas are on YouTube Live tonight. Playing the Party Animals on the road in Columbus, GA. Pregame started at 6 eastern; first pitch at 7. (What are they going to talk about for an hour?) The line to get in the stadium is unbelievable. youtube.com/watch?v=_qkJmwzjwg4 ETA: Bill Lee starting pitcher.

PostI thot this guy retired. Apparently not. Sterling was the Braves announcer years ago. I never liked him. To his credit, 83 years old and still working. youtube.com/watch?v=jjSCUhftEEM

PostI have an ESPN+ account primarily to follow the Kennesaw State basketball team. I just read that they are now streaming some Savannah Banana games. There are 2 games available now for streaming. Looks like I need to delay cancelling my subscription for a bit. So I checked out the rules. Some of them are quite "interesting" to say the least. Under the video is a brief explanation of the 9 rules. thesavannahbananas.com/banana-ball-rules/

PostQuote from odd man out: “Quote from max.patch: “I realize that the national media slobbers every time the Yankees play the Red Sox, but did ESPN really need to show the same game last night on both ESPN and ESPN2? Note to ESPN -- if you want me to watch your broadcast the last thing you want to do is to showcase ARod and have him and Michael Kay talk over the game (ESPN2). I gave em about 30 seconds and flipped to something else. I don't like the format and I don't like him. ” Is that the same f…

PostKinda makes you wonder if every team is going to sign a "designated pinch runner" like the Athletics did in 1974-75 with Herb Washington. I googled him to make sure I had the name right, and thot his wiki page was interesting. Here's the baseball part. <snip> In 1974, Washington was tapped by Oakland A's owner Charlie Finley to become the team's "designated runner". Finley and Washington worked out a one-year $45,000 contract with a $20,000 signing bonus. The contract had an unusual clause requi…

PostQuote from IMScotty: “I dispute today's answer. Using their number that would work out to a blaze every 70 feet. A blaze every 70 feet! In some locations yes, but in others blazes that close together would be overkill. Unless they are counting blazes on both sides of a tree? Then they would average 140 feet apart. That sounds more reasonable. Hmmm? ” That stupid question messed up my "perfect" thru hike a few days ago. I also thot the number was high, so I googled it at the time. The source is s…
