Hi Guys, I am back at Uncle Johnies. Went back to Sams gap Wednesday and probably should have waited awhile longer. Had snow drifts up to two foot going up to Big Bald. Made Big Bald shelter just before dark and froze my ....... off all night long. Got back to the Hostel yesterday afternoon. So far I am averaging under 5 miles per day with all the zeros. Must be doing it wrong. Heading north after breakfast tomorrow. Wish you were here.

Hi Guys, I am in Erwin at Uncle Johnnies. Came down from Sam's gap. Will have to go back and hike into town. Rain turning to snow and ice on the mountain so I am being a sissy and came to town. Going to hang out here for a few days with an eye on the weather. Not hiking any big miles, just enjoying the hike and having fun. Body is hanging in there so far and spirits are good.

You know, I never even thought about that. I think starting where I'm starting I would be too far past Damascus. I'll have to see what's going on and where I am. If I decide to go I'll try to leave word with LS or here if there is a computer handy.

Well finally got everything packed and ready to go in the morning. Decided to weigh the pack. 23 pounds without food or water. Not what I was shooting for but with winter bag and some warm clothes not totally outrageous. I decided to take an extra set of hiking clothes. Last time the worst thing for me was putting cold soggy clothes on in the morning. It is very possible I'll have two sets of cold soggy clothes but hope to keep one set dry and warm the other up before wearing. When I get to Virg…
