    ST, Great intro to this hike. The Tour du Mont Blanc is on a long list of experiences I would like to do, but I am sure I will never get to. I look forward to living vicariously through your posts.

    Do what makes you comfortable but I think you can go without the GPS. The trails in the park, and the AT in the hundred mile wilderness are well used and pretty obvious. Just one less item to worry about.
