I am currently tentless (sold my SMT Skyscape Trekker to get a TT Notch). But maybe I should get a Protrail. What should I do???

That's what I was thinking. Worried the Notch may be too cramped. But mostly I think that is just premature buyer's remorse. -
Very happy with the Double Rainbow. IM used it on the AT. I normally use the BA tent for the ability to pitch inner only but I am a fan of all the TarpTent range. There is one for everybody.Resident Australian, proving being a grumpy old man is not just an American trait.

Better premature than post buyer's remorse.
That is the great thing about a site like this is that you get a lot of feedback from people who actually have the gear you are looking at.
Of course I must admit after I ordered my BA Flycreek 1, Elf had me worried when he said it reminded him of a coffin. But used it over a dozen nights now, and it works great for me.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

My plan is to agonize over the decision for months. Then buy a well regarded tent that works fine and be happy with it. Now if I could just learn to skip that first part. -

That's the way we nerds do things, I'm afraid. Either that, or we make our own stuff and wind up going through an agonizing number of design iterations and/or test builds.
(One thing I notice in this site - we seem to have a disproportionate number of professors, PhD's, engineers and other nerds about. Particularly if we consider Rasty an applied chemist.)I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -

I make beer at home. Does that qualify me as an "applied chemist"? -

Only the baker part. The cook part is art.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Well, I ain't no engineer,
and I ain't no engineer's son
But I'll make designs, 'til yer engineer comes ...

Suit yourself. I figured things might go to pot if you were potted or a pothead around your pots.
