Yeah, the ankles are great. but.. I slipped twice already. On mud and a wet rock when I tried to take a picture.. Ye what a moron I am. Taking these risks for no good reason. Both knees are looking pretty beat up. Both are working fine tho! Cranked out some 18 miles today.. Must be the good air out here
I hope to catch an early hitch to hiawassee tomorrow so I can be back on the trail later the day. Gotta catch up with these people from Florida!

I don't know of any hot springs in Gatlinburg, but there is some farther up the trail in Hot Springs, Nc.
I like the pic up on Albert. And from the looks of the pic it must have been before the reroute too.

This time of year weather will be detemining factor. Snowstorm will slow you down & if it warms up the next day slogging thru slush all day will beat you up. Life on the trail is taken day by day.

Hey, that is why we come here. Of course being the well rounded people we are, you never know where we are going to drift to next.

It has been over 30 years since I took Physics in college, but I bet if AnotherKevin was here he could help you out.

After a point, the more you learn about quantum mechanics... the less you understand it. The commonest interpretation of quantum mechanics, the Copenhagen Interpretation, is best summarized as, "Don't ask."
The math works (well, sort of, because gravity just doesn't fit with everything else), and predicts a lot about how things are observed to behave. But it makes no sense at all. Even the math is nonsensical at a fundamental level. For instance, renormalization theory winds up coming to the perverse conclusion that 1+1+1+1+... (carried out to an infinite number of terms) = -1/2, and that 1+2+3+4+... = -1/12.
Sorry, I'm just an engineer, not a physicist. That sort of thing makes my head explode.
