just for the record, without having to go into the details of recent events, I posted this as an example of a white cop and a black criminal. yes she committed a crime. and how the situation was dealt with.i felt this to be a very positive story.it doesn't need to get spun back into ferguson.its all good

later she was caught egging others on a local highway...
uh then she realized it wasn't as much fun.
Too awkward.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you! -

And......even when someone DOES assault a cop, it doesn't always turn bad. I have a car-show buddy. His step daughter is a .....piece of work. She thinks RULES are for everyone else (It's called Conduct Disorder...she is like 44 years old). She slowed and rolled thru a stop sign here in our little town.....She slowed to like 10 MPH and went right thru. See....in her mind...NO ONE WAS THERE. Except the cop up the street. So the cop pulls her over. What do YOU do when a cop pulls you over? Well, she pulls over, jumps out of the car, screamed obsenities at the cop and then CHEST BUMPED the COP. Amazing restraint by the cop. No one was shot. She didn't even throw her in jail for Assault of a Public Official! The cop is Hispanic, the DIL is white.
Now this was like 5 years back, and the LEGAL issues still dodge the DIL...but then she has about 5 others from similar behavior.
And yes, there WAS a dash cam video showing her screaming and bumping the cop and swinging.....Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

i think these stories happen more often than we'll ever be aware. although i do feel there are officers who abuse their authority as well as those that will take every opportunity to assert it,they are a small minority, and i certainly don't believe any officer wakes up in the morning with the intent of shooting someone. even when the best show restraint, sometimes tough choices have to be made, sometimes in a split second, and sometimes the wrong choice is made.
no matter who's to blame, the recent events have been tragic, but by and large, theres a really good world out there, with people taking care of each other, doing good things for each other. and thats all good.

Agree. Why would an officer shoot someone unless forced to do so. It's very risky for your career. I know two cops that shot someone. Both left the force within months. Neither was at fault in any way. One didn't want to be a cop anymore. The other was hung out to dry by management and cleared by the SBI. The Captain and police chief have been fired since because of what they did to him but he is damaged goods and will probably never be a cop in NC again.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Yup, the last thing a cop wants to do is shoot someone. When the last time you seen a cop square off against someone and trade blows like a street fight, never, they detain and take down and cuff...they all wanna go home at the end of the day, sitty job they got sometimes.

Some people forget that cop are actually real, normal people. Like you and everyone else. Before they become police officers they arent plucked from some "super hero" warehouse. They make mistakes like everyone else, and the vast majority, actually probably over 90% (unverified fact!) are good non corrupt, not racist or assholes.
I will always remember being told as a young rookie, "90% of the people that lives in the precinct are good, hard working people, its that 10% of people who arent that we deal with 90% of the time" And that can't be further from the truth, and you can't let that 10% affect you and make you cynicalRIAP -

update to story:
The popularity of the video led to so many calls from members of the public wanting to donate to Johnson's family that Tarrant Police Chief Dennis Reno said an extra dispatcher had to be brought in to answer phones.
Stacy and Officer Jay Jenkins visited Johnson's home Wednesday with two truckloads of food donated by members of the public.2,000 miler -
