Ref evidently knows how to take a charge.
I always thought taking a charge was the most underrated play in basketball.
With the blocked shot probably the most overrated. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

i still think 1983 NC State v. U of Houston was one the greatest games of all time. The Lorenzo Charles put back at the buzzer of Derek Wittenberg's shot is what everyone remembers, and I guess rightly so.
But without Terry Gannon's taking a charge on Clyde Drexler's 4th foul in the first half, even with Jimmy Valvano's superior coaching the game probably isn't close at the end.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Michigan State Spartans won the Big Ten Tournament Championship! And they rewarded us with a 2 seed. I just hope 3rd time isn't the charm for the Whoooos. jimmyjam, is that what they're called?
As much as I dislike Calipari, he sure was entertaining on tonight's Bracketology show. I would have loved for UK to be sent to Anchorage! -

not that it matters in the whole scheme of things since the lowest seed to win the tourney was 8th seeded villanova, but 2 things really annoy me about the way the tournament is set up (well... more than 2 but thats all i'm gonna talk about).
a conferences automatic qualifer should not have to play in dayton for the right to make the field of 64 and play in that first weekend. by definition, a team that automatically qualifies should be IN the tournament. the dayton games should be the lowest rated 8 at-large teams.
the dayton games have 2 winners earning 16 seed, and 2 winners earning an 11 seed. this is intellectually flawed. an 11 seed should not have to play more games that a 12-13-14-15-16 seed. the dayton games should be limited to those 8 at large teams that are considered 16 and 17 seeds with the winner moving into the 16 seed.2,000 miler -

FWIW, I am on your side on both counts. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Here's a great article by MSU grad and GREAT journalist, Joe Rexrode: MTSU reflects its coach in triumph over Michigan State
Joe worked on the MSU school newspaper, The State News, back in the 90's. Not sure of his exact work chronology, but he worked at the Lansing State Journal for at least 10 yrs covering the Spartans. About 5 yrs ago he became the beat reporter on the Spartans for the Detroit Free Press. Starting in April, he is moving his family to Nashville and becoming a columnist for The Tennessean. Michigan State's loss is Tennessee's gain! Enjoy! -

THE GAME to watch today if ya only can watch one is Indiana-Kentucky at 5:00. yogi ferrell on indiana is worth the price of admission. john calipari is a master at cheating, so look for kentucky to win the game. but yogi's gonna thrill ya.
and if for some reason ya don't watch basketball then pee wee's big holiday just dropped on netflix and imdb gives it a solid 7/10.2,000 miler -

Specifically, the complaint alleged MTSU failed to provide equal athletic opportunities with respect to provision of travel and per diem, the assignment and compensation of coaches, locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities, recruiting, medical and training facilities, and housing and dining facilities and services.

can't believe unc is only a 2 - 2 1/2 point favorite tonite.
when you take the time to create fake classes for athlete's to attend that really ought to translate into a team that is double digits better than anyone else.

great ending to the season. the guy who released the confetti is lucky there wasn't any time left on the clock. i was hopin they'd put 1/10 of a second on the clock and make him clean up the mess before finishing. that'd teach him a lesson.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().
