I don't normally break the rules. We looked for a legal place to camp but several other groups showed up to camp on the bald. Dang peer pressure.OzJacko wrote:
We just walked over Max Patch. Didn't fit our mileages to stay there. I think IM and I had a similar experience though when we tented between Hump and Little Hump Mountains. Few do that as it's close to Overmountain shelter, the big barn that we looked at but didn't stay in.TrafficJam wrote:
Lying in my bag on MP, gazing at the stars, and watching the sunset the next morning is one of the best camping experiences I've ever had.
It was so windy, we both had a difficult time sleeping. I'm surprised the tents didn't collapse.

i plead guilty to passing along incorrect information. "no camping" was on the forest service website. and the government has never lied to us before...TrafficJam wrote:

continuing the bread discussion...
I made/froze the dough for 3 loaves banana bread, Italian rolls (yeast rolls with fresh rosemary, thyme, and garlic), 2 loaves Italian bread, 2 pizza crusts, 2 loaves cinnamon swirl bread. Yum!!!
I never made bread until y'all got me interested. So...thanks! It's fun and relaxing. I'm thinking about making a sourdough starter but it looks a little complicated. I will forget to feed it.

it makes absolutely no sense. cutting it in the factory has got to affect the taste and the shelf life, not to mention the unnecessary packaging which is gonna sit in a landfill somewhere.TrafficJam wrote:

I was just looking at a Flash Your Stash thread on another forum. Dang, I thought I had a lot of yarn... Anyway, we need a 'show your gear' thread. It's a great way to get everything out, organized, and tidied up. Anyone interested?
