My husband dragged me to a film showing thing at UAA this past Friday. I was under the impression it would be like one long film of the Nat Geo variety. It was actually a series of short films sponsored by Nat Geo and some other outdoorsy type companies (Mountain Hardware, MSR, North Face, etc). It was a pre-screening of sorts for the Banff Mountain Film Festival in association with Radical Reelz World Tour.
Anyway, they are hosting a contest that does not require attendance to their festival (though I would go if I could, because it's Banff). So, here's the link for anyone interested in trying their chances at winning one of the prizes. (Open to USA and Canada residents only.) banffcentre.ca/20142015-world-tour-contest
Prizes:
ENTER TO WIN THE GRAND PRIZE of a trip for two to Madagascar with World Expeditions and South African Airways.
Madagascar evokes a strong spirit of the wild. Enjoy an adventure tour and wildlife safari in one of the world's richest ecosystems, accompanied by an expert local guide whose trained eye ensures you really experience the region's diversity and extensive wildlife. Enter to win online and join World Expeditions for an adventure of a lifetime.
Other Prizes:
- Head-to-toe gear for your next adventure from The North Face
- Deuter his/her backpacks
- Kicking Horse Coffee
- Bergans of Norway tent
- MSR stove system, tent, and a pair of poles
- Cushe Footwear
- CLIF Bar Adventure Travel Pack
- Icebreaker Adventure Travel Pack
- Petzl headlamp
- MEC gear
- Ski and stay with The Lake Louise Ski Resort and Great Divide Lodge
- Mammut Avalanche Airbag Pack
- Subscription to National Geographic

I got chills just watching those idiots playing that close to the edge.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

maybe bear spray isnt a good idea
My friend said: Obviously, his name isn't Bear. Maybe she should have tried Frank and clearly he didn't even care about the kayak until she sprayed him and then he was like, well game on.“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” - T. S. Eliot -

Like Max I was hoping the bear would really take to the kayak as payback for the spray. Maybe she got a whiff of it and that contributed to her voice.
It was only a little bear....
