Crappy crappy hypothermia weather, high 40's and raining. Still we desperately need the rain.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I had to stay put, my last 3 years of employment, because I was on the ride out team. Still dangerous.
Nope. I had to provide myself with 3 days of food and water. Clean clothes, and work 12 hours per shift. I got my usual pay. Salaried. Which is interesting, I was one of the folks who went from hourly to salaried, about 6 months before I got assigned to the ride out team.--

this guy in port st lucie had a friend help him push his bmw into his house to ensure its safety during the hurricane. a quote from the article:
"...Fortunately I don’t have a wife to tell me otherwise so the morning of prior to the storm I stuffed it right into my house..."

Watched a tornado develop several days ago while at a military aviation museum. This is a pic of some of the damage.
A friend was conducting predeployment training for folks when a microburst hit within their training area. The tent blew away and most of their computer equipment was destroyed by rainfall.

The pellet stove's I've looked at all needed electricity for one thing or another. We put in our wood stove so we could have heat when the electricity goes out. We also use it other times but it's nice when the power is out. And yep, it sure is a lot of work, I agree.

I may have told this tale but.........my X and I rented a place once that had a wood stove, we were on the second floor and it wasn't the primary heat. So a few years ago I was talking to her, and telling her how we have a woodstove and I was complaining to her how I don't remember it being so much work!
She: "Of course you don't, you got home at 6, I got home at 4 and already had the wood upstairs and the fire started by the time you got home!!! "
