It went from 90's to 70's in just a few days. Finally some relief from the heat.
With the waning crescent moon, the stars were so bright this morning.Lost in the right direction. -
A goodly amount of rainfall last week with at least two tornadoes. Luckily all I endured was a few branches from trees I had yet to prune.
Upcoming weekend is most likely turning cooler.

In '04' I had a wild hair to fish the orange caddis hatch, saw all these lovely pics of the Big Sky in autumn.....it freakin' rained 9 of the 10 days I was there. We tried to fish the St, Joe in Idaho and froze our butts off!
As I left Johnson Bell in beautiful sunshine, the Griz could be seen playing to a full stadium!!!!!Cheesecake> Ramen -

Here on Long Island, east of New York City, the sky is gray and overcast, the same as my mood.
The temperature is neither warm or cold, in the mid 60s, again like my mood.
Me and the weather seem to be in the same sort of mood today.

Looks like we got a nice little storm coming my way this weekend. I'll probably be staying at the hotel all weekend during the hurricane. I've never stayed directly on the beach during a hurricane. This should be interesting.Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

When I lived & worked on Nantucket I came to enjoy hurricanes. It fed the adreniline junkie in me. In many storm I was side by side with head of the boat basin jumping on boats that had broken lines' Timing was evyerthng with surges 5-6'. Sailboat were the worst since there wasn't much roll room if you fell down ( most likely ) when landing. Any line (rope) was fair game to secure the boat. One tie a guy on te dock bitched at me for cuttng a line on a scallop dredge. He knew the owner & said he needs that to make his living. I continued to cut a few more untill the boat was tied up & secure. New kid said the guy was goin to be pissed. I told him to tell him I did it. I ran into the boat owner a few days later. He thanked me for sing his boat & how I cut his lines in best spots for him to salvge them.

We've been having low-mid 60's for overnight lows. Glorious. I open my door and window in the morning while having my coffee. Cool and comfortable.
I do hope all of you up and down the east coast who may be in the path of Matthew take the time to do what's necessary to keep yourselves safe. Matty boy is no joke, and even though it should weaken before reaching the U.S., weakening from a Cat 4 is no joke. Be safe.Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less. - Robert E. Lee -

ETA: i havent been to lake allatoona all summer; it has 2 hiking trails which scoot around the lake. thats where i would notice the difference in water level. i was at lake winfield scott - near the AT at woods hole shelter berween woody and neels - and the lake was so low the stairs to the dock were out of the water and the lake was closed for swimming.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

I stopped by to say Good Luck ! And if you are in an evacuation zone, and are told to evacuate, please do so. Property can be replaced, you cannot.
I had to stay put, my last 3 years of employment, because I was on the ride out team. Still dangerous.--
