The road that goes through the GSMNP was temporarily closed last night because of forecasted wintery stuff coming through. It's November so no surprise I guess.

Next weekend 50s day and 30s night where I want to go on OHT. If knee is well enough, glad to carry extra 13 oz for 20* bag just to get out there again. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Last night was eating chili around an outdoor fire with my wife and the English department. Even went back to my car to get my puffy jacket. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

That big storm that's been out west in moving our way. Counterclockwise circulation around the storm brought up a blast of warm tropical air overnight, so the temperature went up overnight instead of down as we expect. So when I left for work at 7:30 AM, the garage was still filled with the cold dry air from yesterday. As soon as I pulled the car out of the garage and the cold car hit the warm moist air, the outside of the windshield instantly fogged up (opposite of what usually happens this time of year). Had to run the wipers until the windshield warmed up. By the end of the day, the cold front moves through and we get back to the cold side, with lots of wind.

I think we are getting the same cold (cool) front. Today (Wednesday) here in N Texas, 80 and on our third day of very strong winds (gusts into the mid 40 MPH). Any time now, the front comes thru. Thursday and Friday's highs will struggle to be 60, frost possible (here, that's like saying "the Nor'Easter will be...."). Back into the 70's by the weekend. I winterized all my lawn mowers a month ago.....now the grass thinks it's spring......Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

Cold front Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Cool day (for Texas....that means it was below 70) on Thursday. Friday another front headed in and Saturday (Small Business Saturday) was cold and dripping rain all day. Today looks nice and back into the 70's this first week of December......

Sunny and in the 60's here in Connecticut...Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

We're getting the warm weather today and tomorrow. But with 25 mph winds it will not exactly be pleasant.

Crazy week. Woke up Monday in Cincy, flew out of Kentucky, dinner in Atlanta and slept north of Hartford CT. Tuesday was the drive up through Massachusetts and up to Bethel Vermont. Hotel was near Hanover so I made a quick visit to the nearest white blaze. Today was the reverse except my connection was through Detroit. Glad to be home without any weather delays.Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

Had our first significant snow yesterday and overnight (significant = grass fully covered and I have to shovel). To get to Jan 2 without snow is odd. Total was maybe a.few inches, but the deck was downwind of the house so there was an 18" drift there.

We had a "Only In Texas" New Years day. I actually took the dog up to LBJ National Grasslands and wanted to hike. Pooch decided he didn't want to. He's scared of gun fire. While I never heard it, it IS deer season. Anyway, 1/1/2022 high was 74 degrees. Then a "Blue Norther" came by us. It was 18 degrees with a windchill of 2 at 7 AM on 1/2/2022. The temp dropped from that 74 to 54 in just 1 hour in mid afternoon. At one point, the temp in the Texas Pan handle was something like 20 degrees while it was in the low 80's in Brownsville on the Texas/Mexico border and the Gulf.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

Around 80 degrees Saturday in Atlantic Beach FL. Around 70 when I started driving home on Sunday.
Rain as I crossed I-40 north of the Smokies. Snow along I-75 in Kentucky. 23 degrees when I got home at midnight.
But I can't complain. Temps were between 65 and 80 for the entire time I was in Florida. Sunny every day.Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

Of course I've never claimed to be "normal" or even sane -
Winter storm warning. A foot or more of snow predicted. High winds. Dropping temps.
