North Texas. Our summer moved in on us a month early (May). I hiked 8 miles on Sunday July 1. I started around 9:30 and it was already 85. I finished at 12:15. It was 91 with a "real feel" of 101.
it hit 101 later that day.....it did it again today, July 2, 2018. I think the "real feel" was like 107.
Good chance North TX will be above our average number of 100 degree days.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

Most of Texas, OK, Arkansas, NM are now getting hammered (Mid July, 2018). 108 yesterday in DFW. It was still around 100 at 9 PM when I left the gym. Want to know how to instantly dry your sweaty clothes after a workout? Walk outside.....
By Saturday and Sunday, they are talking 110 actual temp here. Predicting about 4 straight days of record setting heat.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

They say "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." As far as I'm concerned, when it's 116 deg, it IS the heat.
BTW, today, we are supposed to be getting the first rain for the month of July. Not complaining about that. -
Beautiful morning, low 70’s. Had a great bike ride.Lost in the right direction.

I've emptied our rain gauge so many times I've lost track of how many inches we've gotten. I think my onions have drowned and rotted and my tomatoes are exploding from too much water."Dazed and Confused"

You always hear about farmers praying for rain. But I guess in this case it could have been spread around a little better. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I went for a hike yesterday out in the forest. Got my 8 miles in. It was around 82 degrees at my 9 AM start. Around 94 with a "feels like" of 100 when I finished. Drank almost 3 liters of H2O while hiking. I felt better for drinking a liter more than my regular hike-in-this-heat.
What was sad was the trail littered in dried up leaves. The heat and lack of rain has some of the trees giving up, dropping leaves.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

While not the excessive heat that some of you have shared, here in my part of Idaho we set a record for the most consecutive days of 90+ degree weather and there's no end in sight. We haven't had any measurable rain in well over a month and that doesn't look to be changing either. Fires everywhere. One of the advantages of hammocks, if it's raining you just go to the end of the tarp and let loose...don't even have to put your shoes on.
