why would such a great company sell such useless crap?
$50. tablet not included.
Because they know there's a market for it. Simply capitalism at work.
Go to other hiking sites and you see multiple questions about which tablet is the best to bring outdoors or to the trail.
Some people won't go without their "stuff" and BA knows it. They're simply trying to get those people to be customers of theirs.
Maybe the real question is why do so many people want to bring that stuff with them? Of course that question comes from a guy who isn't a regular user of a cell phone so many people think I just wouldn't understand. I understand all this technology more than they realize. It's just that I've decided to limit it's use in my life. -

good answer. i guess i can't understand why enough people would want something like that to create a market that would be big enough for BA to make something like this. if WF saw one of these i believe he'd have a heart attack.2,000 miler -
If people buy it, more power to BA for selling it. I won't complain as long as the racket isn't keeping me awake. It's not a weight in my pack nor a distraction in my tent.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here.

It is pretty easy to see a market for such a product. Hikers are not going to be the only users of BA's products, and I would dare say that their main consumer are "campers" who worry less about weight and more so about comforts while getting out of the house. God bless our capitalist system.Of course I talk to myself... sometimes I need expert advice.

I recently heard about a study that said a majority of people would rather receive a low level, not harmful, electrical shock than to sit quietly, in a room by themselves, and just think. With the public having that kind of attitude, I can see this product selling pretty well.

I can't sit in a room by myself and just think. I need to be doing something with my hands like knitting or spinning. I believe in the old saying, "When the hands are busy, the mind is quiet."Lost in the right direction. -

Who is WF again?Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

I have the Big Agnes Slater 3 which is set up to take that entertainment center. If you look at the top of the tent in the video you will see the standard built-in attic. The one time we brought the tablet knowing it was going to be raining much of the day we simply layed it on there, put a pair of remote speakers and lay back on the air pads watching movies rather than half-sitting up straining our necks and backs. Lesson learned? Save the $50 and put it toward a nice ultra-comfy SeaToSummit Aeros Pillow and some snacks to watch the movie with._________________________________________________

There's a Copper Spur UL2 mtnGlo up for bid over on Ebay that's at $51 dollars right now. It's over a $400 tent. Says it's only been used one time. Might be a good chance for somebody to snag a good deal on a fairly lightweight 2 man tent. It's right around 3 pounds. I don't know if that includes batteries or not. Don't know if I'd even use that feature or not. Anyway, might be a deal for somebody.

I gotta have some movie or radio, music to fall asleep to, tinnitis has my ear ringin' so bad I'll never get to sleep otherwise. I just can't see paying $50 bucks for some see through material...or a for a foot print either. I used tyvek for footprint, still haven't made a gear loft yet, but am biding my time on some mesh material or the like on garbage night...one day/night.

One of the reasons I go into the outdoors is to get away from distractions that usually come from an electronic gadget. I won't be buying one of Big Agnes's entertainment centers anytime soon. In fact, probably not in this lifetime.

What are you gonna do in the shelter or in your tent after dark? Especially this time of year where it's dark before seven? A tablet or reader device actually makes some sense. But the BA thingy that we're discussing here wouldn't really be useful in that case.
I've seen plenty of LD hikers bringing tablets into the woods. Not at all out of the ordinary any more. -
