I guess they were cheering so loud that nobody heard the whistle.
The Haterz will keep bringing that up, even though the whistle was a fraction of a second before the TD catch was made. Any Raider who claims that they stopped covering Boyd because of the whistle is making excuses for giving up because they thought Burrow was out of bounds when he threw the ball.

Pretty bad officiating throughout the game.

Today they broke the away playoff game win drought.

    • The NFL is looking like professional wrestling. It seems a few big wigs got together in a smoke-filled room and scripted this weekend's games.
" I know. Let's have the visiting team kick a field goal with four seconds on the clock to break a tie and win on the last play of the game."

Is it too late to bet for Buffalo?

Buffalo didn't follow the script. Their go ahead score was a TD with 17 seconds. Oops

I was thinking the same thing - there's no way Kansas City can score in that time period. Looks like both defenses were totally gassed at the end of the game.

    • Way ouside this domain observation from a distance, but could the NFL be following professional wrestling and NBA in having commissioners (or higher ups) have far too much impact on outcomes? ?(

      Hopefully just interesting coincidences. :)

C'mon now... changing the overtime rules will require network approval. You can't delay 60 Minutes while the game goes to the 8th overtime period. You know, the one where the QB has to wear lard-covered oven mitts.

    • My daughter used to live across the river from the Bengals Stadium. They have since move, but we're glad to see them win. It's refreshing to see some new faces in the Super Bowl. I was also routing for the Rams. It's nice to see Stafford have success after paying his dues in Detroit for all those years. All the sports analysts dismiss him since he never had success in Detroit. They just don't understand how that franchise can suck the soul from even the best players.

I was thinking the same thing about Stafford. But now I'd like to see him revert to Lions-mode. :P

At heart, I'm still a Redskins WFT (WTF) fan. But I'm always willing to cheer on the home team. And I'm a Tyler Boyd fan from his days at Pitt. My son volunteered as a hydration specialist (water boy) at practices and got to see a different side of the players. He told me Tyler Boyd is a good guy.

My son also tutored student-athletes while he was at Pitt. He had to sign a HIPAA-type document preventing him from disclosing the names of the tutored athletes. All he would say was that most had no place being in an academic environment. ?(

I grew up in the DC area in the 60's and '70s. Thus there are two teams to route for. Washington and whoever is playing Dallas.

I still resent that Dallas just decided that THEY were going to be "America's Team" based on nothing whatsoever.

I worked downtown Dallas TX one of the last times the D Cowboys did anything ("HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!"), the schools were open, but then the Dallas Rapid Transit decided it was "FREE RIDES DAY!".....every thug ("Our team won/lost!! FREE NIKES!!!") in the county rode the train/bus into downtown....Our building and most others went into lock-down for most of the day. By 4 PM, Dallas PD had pushed most of it back to the big transit station......I barely felt safe walking the block to catch my bus out of town....I think several of the lady coworkers rushed out with me.

The plan to close schools is more of a 'support the team' move than a pre-emptive effort to control rioting. The various school administrators all made videos based on the 'Who Dey' chant and shared them with the news media. "Who Dey think gonna support 'dem Bengals? Mt. Healthy Elementary!"

Maybe I'm off-base, but the mood seems to be one of exceeded expectations, not of certain positive outcome. I really would be surprised if there was any vandalism / rioting after the game. The news footage from downtown after the win over the Chiefs was more like strangers hugging and high-fiving (while intoxicated of course). We shall see on the 13th.

Why do pro teams need nicknames anyway? TWFT has an understated elegance about it.

Hope so! Ours was after the first Post-Tom-Landry-First-New-Owner super bowl. And actually it wasn't after the game but I think a week later when they had a downtown parade to celebrate. TONS of people and downtown Dallas are not wide streets and hardly anything BUT high rise buildings (no place to observe). The fights and such took place near the end of the parade and afterward and went on for a few hours. Being on the 23rd floor watching it was....interesting.
The second SB under the same ownership was much better controlled.

Kind of like the MLS naming conventions which just calls everything a FC (football club).

So a lot of teams are just the xxx FC (Charlotte, New York City, Toronto, Austin, Los Angeles)
Other turn it around and are the FC xxx (Cincinnati, Dallas)
Some are too American to call it "football" and use "Soccer" instead: xxx SC (Nashville, Orlando city)
Some use a foreign language which different syntax it has so use they CF instead of FC (Miami, Montreal)
The rest have nickname, although three have the same nickname xxx United (Atlanta, Minnesota, DC)
And two list there nickname first: Real Salt Lake (as opposed to the fake Salt Lake??) and Sporting Kansas City (as opposed to Couch Potato KC?)
      Those are odd.
