It turns out that we have $40 and change at REI.
I didn't realize we spent that much at REI this year.

That's how Kathy and I use our credit cards and so we've never paid any interest or other fees.
It's like using cash without having to carry around cash. -

The also make a bunch of cash with skimming off a tiny percentage of each sale. So the folks who charge their monthly expenses on a credit card then pay it off also contribute to earnings.
P.S. The Garmin Venu watch is pretty kewl. Especially for ~$20!Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

This winter, I upgraded some of my cool/cold weather hiking clothes. I bought several things from Outdoor Research for 50% off... mostly fleece items. I’ve been very impressed by their quality and warmth.
I also wanted to upgrade my rain jacket so used my dividend on the OR Helium jacket. Usually $158, REI has one of the available colors for 50% off. With my “reward”... $18.79.Lost in the right direction. -
I also got an REI email just this week with codes for percent off "one full price item". So check to see if what you are thinking to purchase, might be even cheaper with the code applied and then the dividend.Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork

Went to order another pair of patagonia baggies, but after the coupon the price went below $50 so I needed to add something.
Rather than just add a pair of socks, thot I'd shop a bit first.
They have a titanium coffee mug for $90. No thanks.
Adding the socks.
ETA: Next sale i'm getting a bear vault. Just a matter of time before they're required; at least where I live.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

The OR Helium jacket was a bust so it was returned to REI, a very rare occurrence for me. The $, including the dividend, was credited to my account.
I picked up a few things anyway...a tick key, some tenacious tape, and a pair of padded liner shorts for cycling. The shorts can be worn under anything, no dedicated cycling shorts needed. My bike was on the back of my car so I slipped on the shorts under my pants and enjoyed a nice 15 mi greenway ride.Lost in the right direction. -

TJ,
Was the Helium Jacket just a matter of fit, or was there something wrong. It seems to get great reviews.

The rain jacket... in a steady, moderate rain, my tech tee was fairly wet after 10 minutes. After 5 miles, it wasn’t wringing-water-out wet but wetter than I experience with my Precip. It also didn’t provide enough warmth. I got very cold and felt on the cusp of hypothermia. Thank goodness for that CG bathroom and the sun coming out. It was a stupid mistake to not test it before my hike.
The only good thing I can say is it’s very light weight but I may as well not have had a jacket at all and wouldn’t carry it on future trips. This jacket might be good for a short day hike in summer, or by a runner or cyclist in a light drizzle.
Like Scarebear says, no pit zips and the only pocket is a chest pocket which was a little annoying.Lost in the right direction. -

$60+. I applied it towards a footprint for my new bike packing tent. I’ve never used a footprint, hoping it’s not a waste of $.Lost in the right direction.

Previous car camping tents always used a tarp, which always not a perfect fit.
I guess a weight and $ penalty for convenience and insurance, but it works for me.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

NIneteen dollars and change.
Socks (duh) but I'm done with Wright Socks. I love these socks, except for one thing -- they wear out waaaay too fast. Checked the reviews -- they get around 4.5/5.0 -- but more than one comment from users who have the same experience I have. I think they benefit from reviewers who order and then review before they even get them.2,000 miler -

What can I get for $18?
Maybe a backpacking mug.
rei.com/product/150377/
Crap, that's only 8$. What can I get for 10$? Maybe a couple of tent pegs.

Crap, that's only $8. What can I get for $2?
BTW, my REI statement said I had a bunch of purchases that did not apply for rebate. What would those be? -

The REI portion of my dividend was only $1.40. (I usually buy items from the Outlet or when they're on sale.) The balance came from purchases made elsewhere on the REI credit card.2,000 miler -
that explains it. I got my puffy at a deep discount.
