If anybody wants to wander around the AT corridor near Graymoor Spiritual Life center on Saturday, November 7th let me know.
Kathy and I have tentatively picked that day for our next boundary monitoring trip.
The trick is to go after most of the greenery dies back but before the snow falls and covers the surveyor's monuments. -

The last photo, you may not be able to make out on a gadget, it is a young group of back packers. I saw more groups of young folks out, than any other weekend I've worked.
4 groups of young scouts
3 groups of young adult girls
numerous mixed groups of 3 & 4 folks.
At times I've worried that not enough young folks were getting out.Cheesecake> Ramen -

The work season is winding down.
For all you Metro NY area folks, we are pretty close to done with the heavy building, but much work is still to be done on this relocation, up the south side of Bear Mountain.
............for some reason my home PC here will not help me post our fall schedule HERE!
I have posted it on my wall in FB, so maybe one of you folks with a newer computer can put it up here.
Or you can go to Ny/Nj Trail conference....'voluteer'......LDTC crew schedule.Cheesecake> Ramen -

Wish I could have gone with the trail crew this past weekend. The snow didn't put me off, but my foot did. Looks as if I might be out of commission for a while.
My buddies tell me that they managed to cut about three dozen hellacious blowdowns. The sort that require a very skilled chainsawyer with a dedicated support crew. Will's just your man for that! They sent me pictures.
The project was cut back, a lot, because of the weather. The owner of the boat decided that if freezing rain was in the forecast, he needed to haul it right away, so there was no boat for the heavy stuff. And some of the maintainers just weren't equipped for camping in snow. Better that everyone should stay safe.
Hopefully I'll be healthy enough to go along for the Spring cleanup!I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -

This is what we do..................a lot of!
We are almost done with this relocation. One more weekend of finishing treadway. Then 17 November we open it up. We close of the old section, all the New york New Jersey mucky mucks show up, everyone hugs and kisses, we cut the ribbon, we walk the new section and then BBQ in the parking lot!
Good times!Cheesecake> Ramen -
Lou - A well earned party!
I did a lot less for the Northville-Placid but still went along on ADK's first club outing on the new section. It actually has a marked terminus now. (The guy in the blue shirt built it, along with a local artist. It was the carpenter that got the idea of adding the sculpture of the Cathead Mountain fire tower overlooking the trail.)

Most of what I've done for it is to grab the GPS track of the whole thing and draw up a new mileage table with the relocations (draft at kbk.is-a-geek.net/maps/npt-mileage-2015.html). This damned foot of mine is really putting a crimp in my trail maintenance plans.I'm not lost. I know where I am. I'm right here. -

I'm getting excited. Next Saturday, Nov. 7th, Kathy and I will be getting started on our fall Boundary Monitoring tasks. Not only that, we plan to get a night in the tent by going up Friday night, sleeping at Graymoor's ball field and then doing our monitoring on Saturday. We might even do a second tent night Saturday night and come home early Sunday. The long range forecast is good and our schedule is clear....yippee
If anybody wants to join in the fun, let me know.
