    • ALDHA Trail Magic

I'll be helping out ALDHA this weekend at RPH shelter.
      All are welcome

The ALDHA Hiker Outreach Program continues to visit the trail to share the
care that ALDHA has for Hikers. The next event will occur in conjunction
with the RPH annual Hiker Feed which takes place on July 9, 2021. ALDHA
will be there to add to the magic.

After RPH, the Hiker Outreach continues July 14-15 at the campground
in Cheshire, MA for 2 days, then moves on to Gifford Woods State Park
near Killington, VT, from July 30 through August 1. Don’t miss the last
two events, on Aug 4-5 at Grafton Notch, NH then at Abol Bridge, ME, on
August 11-12. This will be where ALDHA’s summer tour ends… within sight
      of Mt. Katahdin.

ALDHA Members who live close to these locations are encouraged to come
out and join in the fun because that is what has been going on all
summer. We are finding that the current Thru Hikers love ALDHA. At
these last outreach activities, we hope to see some SOBOs and greet our
NOBO hiker friends as they make the final push to the end.

If you decide to join us, a typical day often involves cooking eggs,
passing out hot dogs and snacks and talking to the best hikers in the
world. Come by and meet the current class and provide your personal
encouragement to them in their epic journey north AND south.
      its all good
    • Any of the guidebooks can get you down the trail -- but it's things like this that make me recommend The Companion when making your purchase decision. You can support The Trail or you can support some dudes bank account. Choice is yours.

The "worst" guidebook today (whichever one that is) has soooo many more data points and info than The Philosophers Guide had back in the day. And we somehow survived.

My wife Kathy and I have been to the RPH Cabin weekend in the past. There was always a good crowd of people who showed up to do trail work during the day and socialize during the evening. It's a good way to support the trail and meet new people.
At some I know should probably start doing that with the Ouachita, Ozark Highland, or Buffalo River Trail.
The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.
