It is delicious. Unfortunately one of my teeth decided to abcess... so no hot food until my root canal next week. At least I'm on anti-biotics... with a long list of warnings. I may not be able to afford the BMT next year. Probably have to find a part time job.--

I dehydrated some beef stroganoff the other night. What's the rehydrate formula? 1 cup of stroganoff to one cup of water?
Beef stroganoff sounds good. I want to know how this turns out!Lost in the right direction. -
Just got an emai from Honeyville. Black Friday sale through the weekend. Their sale items don't intrest me, but 20% off entire order does & can be combined with 10% off if you build a case(6) of #10 cans, shop.honeyville.com/?dm_i=2W9V,43ST,1DXYIL,C1D9,1

I brought dehydrated chili on my camping trip last week. It was terrible...musty/moldy tasting. It wasn't very old but I think it was taken out of the freezer several times, not used, and returned to the freezer.Lost in the right direction.

I need to dehydrate some northern beans and kielbasa today. Has anyone dehydrated kielbasa? I'll have to fish it out of the beans and cut it into smaller pieces.Lost in the right direction.

I had some temporary food allergies for over 30 years. I could drink milk and eat cheese, but not eat meat or fat from meat. I forget the scientific name for it, but the doctor told me it had no known cause and no known cure. It might go away, which it finally did. Open sores is the only part I'll mention.--

I grew up allergic to a lot of things. A weekly shot in the arm & age have changed that.

Did a batch of jerky on sat for a hike starting on Thursday. One side was seasoned with bourbon BBQ and the other side with original seasoning. Turned out great. We already finished half of it off.
Note to self .... Make jerky close to leave date.

I politely replied that since mine aren't contagious, he must have some other problem. He declared he hadn't meant it that way. I suggested a more careful reply on his part could have precluded that response. He blinked a couple of times and walked away. He later found out I am a Veteran. Apparently he had gotten confused on the 'manhood' thing during boot camp, where he had recently been.--

What ever happened to man skills and making from scratch?

I haven't read every post in this thread so this may have already been covered. I happen to like spaghetti and bring it when I hike.
To make my “sauce” I use tomato paste, not tomato sauce. I will add whatever seasoning strikes my fancy and then dehydrate the tomato paste until it is dry and brittle. Once it is brittle I break it up and put it in my magic bullet and turn it into powder.
For the pasta I cook it following directions. Once it is fully cooked I then dehydrate it.
The sauce is packaged in a small zip lock bag and put in the quart size zip lock bag that pasta is in. I will also add a small bag of non-refrigerated grated cheese.
Once in camp I use the freezer bag cooking method to rehydrate the pasta and sauce.
I have also dehydrated Italian sausage to add to the meal.
Tastes pretty damn good on a cool eveningThe will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.
